How long have you been a member of SESWA (years)? I have been a member for three years.
Have you served SESWA in the past? If so, how? Yes, currently serve as member of the Conference and Education Committee.
What abilities and attributes can you bring to the Board? Trusted industry thought leader demonstrated by numerous annual presentations at national and state/regional conferences; Consensus builder who has developed stormwater policy as a former regulator and shaped outcomes by participating in many stakeholder advisory and technical evaluation groups; Perspective since I have experience in both traditional and green stormwater infrastructure design, inspection, and maintenance needs from the public and private sectors; and Coach as I have spent nearly as much time leading player development on the soccer pitch as I have working in stormwater management.
What background and experience do you have in the stormwater industry? I have over 20 years of stormwater management experience. My first decade was spent as a small MS4 stormwater program manager establishing policy, completing plan reviews, inspections sites in the field, and ensuring systems worked effectively post-construction. The last 10 years I have work as a Regulatory Manager for a BMP manufacturer which affords me the opportunity to seek pathways for innovative BMP utilization, promote the use of gray and green infrastructure for optimized site development, and build utilization tools for public education and outreach in addition to serving as a technical expert for regulators and the design community. For a couple years between the other two decades, I worked as a municipal long-range planner focusing on natural resource protection, water supply and watershed planning, small areas plans, and community livability.
Why do you want to serve on the Board of Directors? Service is a calling. I'd like to be able to share my knowledge and experience with more communities and partners in the Southeast to improve local water quality.
