Andrea Moreno Town of Bluffton MS4 Program Manager
|
How long have you been a member of SESWA (years)? I have been a member for five years.
Have you served SESWA in the past? If so, how? I previously served on the Membership Committee and am currently on the Stormwater Policy Committee.
What abilities and attributes can you bring to the Board? I have the ability to utilize the current state of knowledge and research-backed information to help inform the decisions and strategies needed to address stormwater challenges. I do not believe that anything good for the world is done only in a silo and I believe that collaboration and partnerships are vital to achieve programmatic success. Not only have I communicated various stormwater topics to those with varying levels of expertise, but I also have the ability to work with a diverse group of stakeholders to achieve Town goals and objectives. I also actively serve in a leadership role with the Town and on the board for the Southeast Chapter of the International Erosion Control Association and plan to bring these skills to SESWA.
What background and experience do you have in the stormwater industry? I have been working in stormwater for over 10 years, the last three of which serving as the Town of Bluffton’s MS4 Program Manager. Beyond MS4-program areas, I have extensive experience with, and a true passion for, stormwater policy and enforcement as it relates to both water quality and water quantity objectives in the Coastal region. I’m a Certified Floodplain Manager, FAA Drone Pilot, Qualified Compliance Inspector of Stormwater, Municipal Stormwater Inspector, and Certified Stormwater Plan Reviewer, Certified Erosion Prevention and Sediment Control Inspector, and Post-Construction BMP Inspector for South Carolina.
Why do you want to serve on the Board of Directors? As a native and current resident of South Carolina, I feel responsible for the environmental success of my hometown, state, region, and nation. I consider the organization’s role in advocating for positive change at the federal level and the breadth of information that SESWA provides to stormwater professionals as examples of SESWA’s desire to ensure that same success. Furthermore, I am very passionate about the future of stormwater education, resilience, and policy and feel that serving on the SESWA Board of Directors would grant me the opportunity to play a significant role in this future.
