Brown and Caldwell - Bromolow Stream Restoration Project

Bromolow Stream Restoration Project, Gwinnett County. Designed by Brown and Caldwell.

W.K. Dickson - Butterfly Branch Mitigation
In order to construct the airfield Improvements at Spartanburg Downtown Memorial Airport, associated stream mitigation was required by the USACE. Some of the stream mitigation credits were purchased through a Mitigation Bank and some credits were obtained by designing improvements to the Butterfly Branch (formerly Greenville Branch) downtown. This stream mitigation project not only allowed the city to realize the mitigation credits required, it also allowed the city to beautify a section of the Butterfly Branch area by taking an old, piped section of the Butterfly Branch, removing all piping, day-lighting this stream and once again, restoring it to its natural conditions. This project and integrated park serve as the centerpiece for the planned urban revitalization of the Northside Community in downtown Spartanburg.
